Hometown: Phillipsburg

As I have stated in a previous post, one of my best friends recently moved to Phillipsburg. She is also a history nerd and one of the first things she said to me was, “Wait until you’ve seen what I found!” Granted, we weren’t able to go everywhere, but that’s okay; plenty of time to go explore. After consulting my “bible” and some print-outs, we headed out to Phillipsburg’s Main Street.

There used to be a Town Tour listing on the town website, but now I can’t find it to link you to it (good thing I printed it out!). We loosely based our walk up and down Main Street on that. Right off Main Street is the Northampton Street Bridge, better known as the Free Bridge, which connects New Jersey to Pennsylvania. Easton, Pennsylvania to be exact. It is a stone’s throw away. This post is about the Historic District of Phillipsburg. You’ll find quite a few buildings with small placards attached explaining the historic significance of theĀ building. Can’t wait to visit my friend and explore more!
